The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DIMI) is part of the Faculty of Engineering of UROMA3. DIMI’s personnel involved in the project has strong research experience in the field of aerodynamics, aeroelasticity and aeroacoustics of rotorcraft and in multidisciplinary optimization. The Department has participated in EU projects within FP3 – EROS, ROSAA – and FP6 – PROBANd, SEFA, FRIENDCOPTER – and has been involved in GARTEUR AG 16.
UROMA3’s main tasks in ARISTOTEL focus on
- contributing to the identification of potential sources for aero-servo-elastic instabilities
- modelling of tiltrotor systems
- coupling of pilot and rotorcraft models with and without pilot-in-the-loop
- validating theoretical models for the prediction of aero-servo-elastic rotorcraft-pilot coupling phenomena and analyzing the suitability of criteria for the prediction of aero-servo-elastic RPC
- contributing to the definition of guidelines for designers
